Our Take: David Gregory Was the Best Choice

Meet the Press just announced that David Gregory will be the new host, following Tim Russert’s untimely death this past summer.  I talked it over with my husband, Marc Littlejohn, who follows politics and political journalism far more intently than I do. This is what he told me:

“David Gregory is one of the best journalists out there. He’s the most objective, and at his age he’s very experienced. He’s very astute;knowledgeable on everything as it relates to politics. He’s always unbiased in his reporting, he’s not fawning all over people. He’s not afraid to ask tough questions. He’s fair. And he represents the younger generation.

I think Tim Russert would be proud.”

So there you have it. DG  will be our new Sunday morning messenger, leading the historic weekly broadcast at a truly historic time in our nation’s politics and culture.  Looking forward to tuning in.

I agree that he was probably the best choice, but he’s just so…goofy! Every time I see him sitting at the MTP desk, I’ll be thinking of him dancing with Mary J. Blige on the Today Show.

LOL. Not to mention the whole monkey mouth thing. And the “freakish” height. It’s all very distracting…

  3. David Byrd says:

I do not agree. i think the best choice would have been Gwen Ifill of PBS. She has done a great job at PBS, did an excellent job as the moderator of the VP debate. She would have been a ground breaking choice for NBC.

  4. David, what would have made Ifill a “ground breaking” choice? Just curious. I agree, she would have surely done a great job, but ground breaking? That’s strong.

Also, I have to disagree that she did “an excellent job as the moderator of the VP debate” She was kinda dry and didn’t call Sarah Palin out for not staying on topic. Overall, her moderation wasn’t memorable.
